Though located in Austin, TX, Texas DPS Credit Union actually serves members throughout the state of Texas. We've been delivering dependable, personal service since 1954. Our Mission

 The mission of the Texas DPS Credit Union is to provide superior, cost-effective financial services and solutions that meet the changing needs of the membership; to insure the members the lowest possible rates on loans and the highest possible rate of return on savings according to sound and safe financial management practices. 

Our History 

Texas DPS Credit Union was Chartered on July 16, 1954, with 10 members and fifty dollars ($50), originally organized for the purpose of serving employees of the Texas Department of Public Safety and their family members. The first home of Texas DPS Credit Union was the desk drawer of Fritz Christian, Treasurer, at 5805 North Lamar in Austin, TX. In October of 1959, the Credit Union hired its first full-time manager and then hiring a second full-time employee in March of 1962. 

Since those first 10 members in 1954, Texas DPS Credit Union has expanded membership eligibility and grown steadily, serving individuals across the state of Texas, and some outside of Texas. The field of membership eligibility has expanded through the years, including opening membership eligibility to those with other types of public safety associations as well as opening eligibility to the community (absolutely anyone who lives or works in Austin, TX).

Since 1954, one thing that has never changed over the years is Texas DPS Credit Union's determination and commitment to provide dependable personal service while meeting the ever changing needs of our members.
